PHARMACY & WELLNESS · Pharmacy service
Sore throat? Start with a proper assessment.
A throat swab, an explanation of the result and a clear next step. Call the pharmacy before coming in for rapid strep testing.

THE KIWI APPROACH
A sore throat does not always mean strep.
The pharmacist checks whether a rapid test is appropriate or whether you need a different level of care. Testing is one part of the assessment.
How the visit works
The team checks you in and the pharmacist conducts a throat swab when testing is appropriate. The test is processed in the pharmacy, then the pharmacist explains the result.
Call ahead to confirm availability and the current fee.
A positive test needs a prescribing appointment
Kiwi’s strep-testing pathway directs you to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic for assessment and a prescription if needed. The pharmacy test is not an antibiotic-prescribing appointment.
The pharmacist will explain how to take the result to the next clinician.
If the result is negative or symptoms continue
A negative result does not answer every question about a sore throat. Follow the pharmacist’s advice about further assessment, particularly if symptoms persist or worsen.
Do not wait for a website reply for an urgent concern.

Useful answers about Rapid Strep Testing.
What happens during the visit?
A pharmacist assesses whether testing is appropriate. If it is, they take a throat swab and explain the result and next step.
Does a positive test mean Kiwi will prescribe antibiotics?
No. Kiwi’s testing pathway directs you to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic for prescribing assessment. The pharmacy can explain how to share the result.
Should I call before coming in?
